INDONITE is a collaboration of the Indonesian Societies of Imperial College London and University College London, as well as the Indonesian-Bruneian Society of the London School of Economics and Political Science, bringing together traditional performances, a student-produced play and culinary delights in a celebration of Indonesian heritage and cultural diversity.
Every year, INDONITE has entertained an annual audience of over 200 with various acts, ranging from 2007's blend of dances and a play featuring the Hindu legend of Ramayana, to last year's political drama entitled "Cockcroach Opera", which was banned in Indonesia during the New Order regime.
This year, INDONITE proudly presents "Indonesia is...", a musical drama set in 1984 that provides a glimpse into the lives of young Indonesian intellectuals, each with his/her own different idea of what "Indonesia" really is. Filled with political intrigue, suspense, idealism and lost innocence, this is a play you won't want to miss.
Moreover, guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a repertoire of Saman, or the "Dance of a Thousand Hands", solo singing featuring songs from both popular and traditional cultures and fantastic door prizes presented by our beautiful Indonesian MCs. Not to forget, a sumptuous feast of Indonesia's much-loved cuisine will be served beforehand, preparing guests for an evening of unforgettable cultural experience.
